Jiang Zhuoer says spot Bitcoin ETF may see net outflows next session as Coinbase BTC premium stays negative

Jiang Zhuoer, founder of mining pool B.TOP, said on Sept. 8 that Bitcoin had just fallen and that the Coinbase Bitcoin premium remained in negative territory, with losses still widening. Based on that setup, he said he expects spot Bitcoin ETFs to post fund outflows in the next day’s data, referring to the current U.S. stock market trading session. He also cautioned that ETF flow data is delayed. In his view, trading on ETF figures is like driving while looking in the rearview mirror. Even so, he said ETF inflow and outflow data remains highly important and must continue to be watched. The remarks were cited by BlockBeats in a brief market update.

Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index Narrows to -0.0221% as Negative Premium Streak Reaches 95 Days

ChainCatcher reported that Coinbase’s Bitcoin Premium Index narrowed to -0.0221% but remained below zero. The metric has stayed in negative territory for 95 consecutive days from May 19 to Aug. 21, setting a record since the indicator was launched. That surpasses the previous record of 40 straight days between Jan. 16 and Feb. 24 this year, and also exceeds the roughly 30-day negative stretch seen during last year’s “1011 crash.” The index compares the Bitcoin price spread between Coinbase Pro and Binance. A sustained negative reading usually suggests Coinbase is pricing Bitcoin lower, which can reflect weaker U.S. buying or heavier selling pressure. ChainCatcher also noted that the indicator alone should not be used to conclude that institutional funds are flowing out.

Coinbase Bitcoin premium stays negative for 82 days, the longest streak on record

CoinGlass data shows the Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index remained in negative territory for 82 straight days from May 19 to Aug. 8, with the latest reading at -0.0759%. That marks the longest continuous negative stretch since the indicator was introduced. The previous record lasted 40 days, from Jan. 16 to Feb. 24 this year, and the current run is also longer than the roughly 30-day negative period seen during last year’s “1011 crash.” The index tracks the Bitcoin price gap between Coinbase Pro and Binance. A persistent negative reading usually means Coinbase is quoting lower prices than Binance, a signal often associated with weaker buying interest in the U.S. market or heavier selling pressure. Still, the source noted that this indicator alone should not be used to conclude that institutional capital is leaving the market. The reading points to soft U.S. demand, but it does not, by itself, prove fund outflows.

Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index Stays Negative for 80 Straight Days, Coinglass Shows

Coinglass data shows the Coinbase Bitcoin premium index has been negative for 80 straight days since May 19, with the latest reading at -0.0978%. A 40-day negative streak from Jan. 16 to Feb. 24 had previously set the record, exceeding the roughly 30 days during the 1011 crash. Historically, prolonged negative premiums often point to US institutional outflows, so short-term correction risks deserve attention.

Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index Stays Negative for 76 Straight Days

The Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index has remained in negative territory for 76 consecutive days since May 19, according to Coinglass data, with the latest reading at -0.1012%. The stretch is notably longer than the index’s previous longest run of negative readings recorded earlier this year, when it stayed below zero for 40 straight days from Jan. 16 to Feb. 24. That earlier period had set the longest negative streak since the indicator was introduced and exceeded the roughly 30-day run of negative premium seen during the “1011 crash.” Historical data cited in the report shows that extended periods of negative premium often coincide with outflows from U.S. institutional investors. The latest reading is therefore being watched as a sign that short-term pullback pressure may be building in the market.
